Obasanjo Praises Governor Adeleke’s Performance, Urges Focus on Yoruba Progress

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has commended Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for his developmental strides, urging him to disregard the shortcomings of past administrations and focus on advancing Osun State for the benefit of the Yoruba people. Obasanjo made this statement yesterday during the inauguration of the 2.7-kilometer Old Garage-Lameco road in Osogbo.

Obasanjo’s Endorsement of Adeleke

Obasanjo lauded Adeleke’s efforts, emphasizing that his achievements transcend Osun State, contributing to the broader progress of the Yoruba nation. He highlighted Osun’s cultural significance, noting that Ile-Ife, the cradle of the Yoruba race, is situated in the state.

“The development of Osun is in the interest of the entire Yoruba race. Ignore what your predecessors failed to do. Focus on moving Osun to greater heights, and you will be doing good for Yoruba people globally,” Obasanjo said.

Obasanjo, who acknowledged Adeleke’s critics, expressed admiration for the governor’s ability to blend governance with his lively personality, often noted for his dancing:

“The governor has disappointed critics. He has shown that he is not only a good dancer but also a good performer.”

Adeleke’s Development Agenda

Governor Adeleke used the occasion to outline his administration’s achievements and commitment to infrastructure and economic revitalization. He highlighted his five-point agenda aimed at addressing critical needs and aspirations of the people of Osun.

“To revive the state and deliver good governance, my administration launched out with a five-point agenda targeting specific areas of need,” Adeleke stated.

Key achievements include:

  • Road Infrastructure: Construction of over 120 kilometers of roads across the state.
  • Flyover Projects: Progress on two major flyovers in Osogbo and ongoing work at the Ile-Ife Flyover and Ilesa dualization.
  • Iwo-Osogbo Road: Plans to complete and dualize the Odoori-Adeeke road in Iwo, with execution in two phases.

Commitment to Future Projects

Adeleke reassured residents of Osun that his administration remains focused on completing all ongoing projects and balancing infrastructure development with social welfare initiatives:

“For the second half of our government, I reassure all sons and daughters of Osun State that the government under my leadership will complete all ongoing projects and address both infra and social needs.”

The governor’s pledge reflects a continued focus on fostering economic growth, enhancing connectivity, and improving the quality of life for Osun residents.

As Adeleke’s administration moves into its next phase, the governor’s ambitious infrastructure plans and Obasanjo’s endorsement underscore a shared vision for Osun’s progress and the broader advancement of the Yoruba people.
