Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has assured corps members that their monthly allowance will soon be increased to N77,000. The announcement came during the commissioning of a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company in Abuja.
Ahmed confirmed that all arrangements for the allowance hike have been finalized and that the new allowance will be implemented in 2025. He reiterated his commitment to improving the welfare and security of corps members, ensuring they receive all the benefits they deserve.
Currently, corps members receive N33,000 a month, despite the enactment of a new national minimum wage law by President Bola Tinubu in July 2024.
During the event, the newly commissioned bus was recognized as a solution to the transportation challenges faced by NYSC staff and corps members. Capital Express Insurance Company CEO, Matthew Ogwezhi, emphasized the company’s long-standing partnership with the NYSC and explained that the donation was part of their ongoing support, particularly in light of rising transportation costs.
