Popular actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has opened up about the hurdles he faced in his career and the resilience of his marital life with actress Bimpe Oyebade. Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Lateef reflected on the moments that shaped his success and his unwavering bond with his wife.

Lateef recounted a challenging phase in his early career when a senior colleague in the Yoruba movie industry doubted his potential, predicting his downfall within a year. Rather than being discouraged, the actor embraced the challenge with determination, responding, “Someone once told me in the Yoruba movie industry that he gave me one year to see what I would become. I told him to give me two years and he will see what I will become.”

This resilience has defined Lateef’s journey, but his success was not achieved in isolation. Lateef shared the intimate story of how he proposed to his wife, a moment that showcased their simplicity and mutual understanding. “I just called her one morning and asked if she would marry me, and she said Yes,” he revealed, highlighting the unpretentious nature of their love.

Their marriage, however, has not been without its trials. Lateef spoke candidly about the online trolling and hurtful comments his wife has endured, including being called barren on social media. Despite the cruelty, Bimpe’s strength and positivity have been a source of inspiration for Lateef. “She would always show it to me and would say they would be all right,” he said, appreciating her grace under pressure.

Lateef also reflected on a pivotal moment in his career involving his first major film project, Lisabi. He admitted feeling abandoned by those he thought would support him but found solace and encouragement in his wife. “When I wanted to do my first big screen job, Lisabi, I realized that everybody that I felt would stand by me was not there; there was nobody,” he shared, emphasizing how Bimpe’s support gave him the confidence to move forward.
