In a newly surfaced voice note, controversial cross-dresser Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has made startling claims about paying a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) N5 million to secure a Federal Government pardon over money laundering charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The cross-dresser revealed that the SAN initially demanded N10 million, but his inability to raise the full amount was due to his accounts being frozen by the EFCC.
These claims were brought to light in a video shared by popular social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday, October 7, 2024. According to the recording, which VDM says was made on May 16, 2024, Bobrisky confessed that his godfather assisted him by paying the initial N5 million.
Bobrisky recounted how his godfather’s intervention spared him from prison. “Truth be told, I won’t lie to you, you’re my person. I’m not in prison, but I’m around there. They got me an apartment because of my godfather. My godfather was able to say, ‘Never, you will not smell that prison,’” he said. Bobrisky further explained that the arrangement allowed him to avoid prison time, even though the public believed otherwise.
Pardon in Progress, Awaiting Approval
According to Bobrisky, his team is in the process of securing a pardon that could reduce his sentence. He admitted, “I’m supposed to finish my sentence by July, but if we get the amnesty, I could leave by the first week of next month. The SAN asked for N10 million, which I could have transferred, but my account is frozen. My godfather gave me N5 million and we sent it to the SAN two weeks ago. He has already submitted the pardon request.”
He emphasized that his godfather’s influence also played a role in his current living situation, which was arranged with the help of the Deputy Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service. Bobrisky disclosed that due to concerns about his safety in a male prison, he was placed in a nearby apartment, provided he maintained a low profile and refrained from social media activity.
“They were worried about putting me in a male facility due to the risk of harassment, so they arranged for me to stay nearby, as long as I don’t post or say anything,” he said.
Accusations Against EFCC and N15 Million Allegation
In the same conversation, Bobrisky reiterated a previous accusation that EFCC operatives had demanded and received N15 million from him in exchange for dropping the money laundering charges. This is not the first time Bobrisky has made explosive allegations about his interactions with law enforcement and his high-profile legal challenges.
He also claimed that human rights lawyer Femi Falana was approached to seek a presidential pardon for him, allegedly in exchange for ₦10 million.
