The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Sir Festus Ahon, has dismissed rumors suggesting the governor is planning to defect to another political party. Ahon described these claims as baseless fabrications by opposition elements unsettled by the governor’s growing acceptance and bridge-building efforts across political lines.
In a statement issued in Asaba, Ahon emphasized that Governor Oborevwori has no reason to abandon the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), given his strong standing within the party and the widespread support he enjoys from Deltans. He reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to delivering the MORE Agenda—a cornerstone of his election campaign—which focuses on sustainable development and inclusive governance for the benefit of all residents in the state.
Ahon highlighted the governor’s collaboration with the federal government, stressing that his administration prioritizes partnerships that enhance the welfare of Deltans and contribute to national progress.
The Chief Press Secretary urged the public to disregard the rumors, attributing them to “mischief makers and fifth columnists” seeking to create unnecessary distractions. He reassured Deltans that Governor Oborevwori remains steadfast in his commitment to the PDP and is focused on fulfilling his electoral promises.
