Family of Binance Executive Tigran Gambaryan Pleads for Justice After Bail Denial Amid Worsening Health

The family of Tigran Gambaryan, a senior Binance executive who has been in detention since March 2024, is making an emotional appeal for justice after his most recent bail request was denied. Despite presenting clear medical evidence showing the severity of his deteriorating health, the court has repeatedly refused to grant bail, sparking concern from both his family and legal team.

Tigran Gambaryan’s wife, Yuki Gambaryan, spoke out about her deep worries for her husband’s health, revealing that he suffers from a severe herniated disc that has left him unable to walk without assistance. His condition has worsened while being held in Kuje Prison, where the medical facilities are insufficient to provide the specialized treatment he urgently needs.

“Tigran’s health is getting worse every day in Kuje Prison,” Yuki said. “The medical facilities there simply cannot offer the care that he needs. He’s in constant pain and struggling to move on his own. It is heart-wrenching to see him being denied the medical attention he so desperately requires.”

Several doctors, including the prison’s medical personnel, have assessed Tigran’s condition and confirmed that his health issues require immediate specialized care, which the prison is not equipped to provide. Despite these professional opinions, his bail applications have been denied on multiple occasions. Yuki expressed her frustrations and fear about the lasting impact on her husband’s health: “It is unjust to keep someone in Tigran’s condition from getting proper medical treatment. My biggest fear is that the damage will be irreversible by the time he is released.”

The family’s legal team pointed out that the continuous refusal of bail goes against established legal precedents in Nigeria, particularly in cases where humanitarian and medical grounds are involved. They argue that under normal circumstances, individuals facing severe health issues are granted bail so they can seek medical treatment. The rejection of Gambaryan’s bail, they claim, raises serious questions about the fairness of the judicial process and the protection of human rights.

“This decision is troubling,” Yuki continued. “It contradicts established legal norms in Nigeria, where courts often grant bail on medical grounds. We are not asking for anything outside of the law. Tigran deserves the chance to get the treatment he needs. His life is at risk, and justice is being denied.”

Despite the ongoing bail denial, Tigran’s trial has continued, with the latest session involving the cross-examination of a witness from the Central Bank in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) case against him. While the legal proceedings move forward, his family and legal team are renewing their calls for Nigerian authorities to reconsider his bail application before his condition becomes permanent.

Tigran Gambaryan, known for his high-profile role within Binance, has been entangled in a complex legal case, and the details of the charges against him remain tied to the ongoing investigations by the EFCC. However, his family insists that his health should take priority and that no one in such a critical condition should be forced to endure prolonged detention without the medical care they need.

As the legal process drags on, the Gambaryan family is urging authorities to act with compassion and fairness, ensuring that Tigran receives the medical attention necessary to prevent his condition from worsening further. They continue to advocate for his release on bail so he can access proper care, stressing that the delays in doing so could have devastating, long-term consequences.
