Abosede Aloba, the mother of late Nigerian singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba), and actor Yomi Fabiyi found themselves at odds during a World Press Conference held on Wednesday at the Radisson Blu in Ikeja, Lagos State. The event, organized by Fabiyi, was intended to demand justice for the deceased singer, but it quickly escalated into a tense exchange of words between the two.
The confrontation began when Fabiyi claimed that Mohbad’s brother, Adura Aloba, had reached out to him via Instagram, alleging that he knew the true cause of the singer’s death. However, Mrs. Aloba vehemently denied this, stating that her son, Adura, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing. She accused Fabiyi of attempting to implicate her surviving son unjustly.
In an emotional outburst, Mrs. Aloba pointed at Fabiyi and said, “They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother unjustly. He knows nothing about his brother’s death, do not implicate my son.” With tears in her eyes, she continued, “I am not happy that I lost Mohbad because if he were alive, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They took my precious gift away, and I won’t let them take Adura too.”
Fabiyi, visibly calm despite the tension, clarified that his primary concern was not with who had allegedly sent the message, but rather with its content. He stood by his belief that the message could have been sent by Adura, but emphasized that he was not pointing fingers at anyone.
Mohbad tragically passed away on September 11, 2023, at the age of 26 under controversial circumstances. His death has sparked widespread speculation and demands for an investigation into the cause, with both fans and family members seeking justice for the young artist.
