Ice Prince Reflects on Growing Up Without Parents and Overcoming Challenges

Nigerian rapper Panshak Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, has shared a heartfelt account of the struggles he endured after losing both parents at a young age. During an episode of the Listen podcast, the “Aboki” hitmaker revealed how these hardships shaped his life, career, and aspirations to inspire others.

Losing His Parents

Ice Prince lost his father when he was just 11 years old, and his mother passed away a decade later when he was 21. These devastating losses left him as the sole provider for his family.

“I don’t have a mother or father. I’m an only son. That’s quite tough,” he said.

“I was eleven years old when I lost my dad. I was about 21 or 22 when my mum passed away. And I have a huge family that depends on me.”

Financial Hardships and Lost Opportunities

Growing up without a financial safety net, Ice Prince had to take on menial jobs to support himself and his education. However, financial difficulties often left him unable to meet school expenses.

“I was the guy that spent at least three weeks at home every term because of school fees,” he recounted.

The rapper also revealed how he missed out on a university education due to an inability to pay the required fees.

“I didn’t go to the University because of N20,000. I had about two weeks to pay that money, but I couldn’t raise it on time. That was how I lost the admission,” he shared.

The Role of Faith and Perseverance

Despite these challenges, Ice Prince credits his faith and determination for his success, emphasizing that he had no external financial support.

“I don’t have no uncle, aunty, godfather, or godmother that I depend on. It has been nothing but God in my life,” he said.

Inspiring Others Through His Story

Reflecting on his journey, Ice Prince hopes his story will motivate others to overcome obstacles and pursue their dreams.

“I want people to look at my life and say if I can succeed, then no one has an excuse to fail,” he stated.

A Testament to Resilience

Ice Prince’s journey from a challenging childhood to becoming one of Nigeria’s most celebrated rappers underscores the power of resilience and self-belief. His story serves as an inspiration to anyone facing adversity, proving that determination and faith can lead to remarkable success.
