National Lottery Regulatory Commission Lauded for Economic Contributions

The Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Zaphaniah Jisalo, has praised the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) for its regulatory efforts and economic contributions during the commission’s 2024 stakeholders meeting in Lagos. The event, designed to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, underscored the NLRC’s role as the regulator of Nigeria’s gaming and lottery sector.

Jisalo expressed satisfaction with the commission’s performance, stating, “The NLRC is doing very well. If they were not, I wouldn’t be here. We are giving them all the necessary support from the ministry.”

Commitment to Responsible Gaming

NLRC Director General, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila, emphasized the commission’s dedication to promoting responsible gaming, highlighting its dual role in protecting citizens and driving Nigeria’s socioeconomic growth. He remarked, “The significance of responsible gaming cannot be overemphasized. Through collaboration, we aim to balance growth with social responsibility.”

Gbajabiamila also assured stakeholders of continued engagement to enhance regulatory frameworks, foster sustainable practices, and build a trustworthy gaming industry that contributes meaningfully to the national economy.

Calls for Transparent Remittances

Comrade Toyin Adeyanju, Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), urged operators to ensure accurate remittances to the fund. According to Adeyanju, these contributions are essential for expanding NLTF projects across Nigeria, enabling the trust fund to have a broader positive impact.

Acknowledgment of Dedication

Dr. Maryam Keshinro, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, commended the stakeholders for their unwavering commitment to excellence in the lottery and gaming industry. “Your tireless efforts and sacrifices in ensuring the NLRC remains a beacon of excellence in Nigeria are highly commendable,” she noted.

Collaborative Growth for the Gaming Sector

The stakeholders’ meeting also featured presentations on regulatory advancements and sustainable practices in the gaming industry. These discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration between the NLRC and industry players to create a fair and thriving gaming environment.

By aligning regulatory strategies with economic goals, the NLRC continues to position itself as a key driver of responsible gaming and national development in Nigeria.
