The Nigeria Police Force has reported significant successes in its ongoing efforts to combat crime, including the neutralization of 11 bandits and the rescue of 207 kidnapped children from various states. These achievements underscore the Force’s commitment to tackling insecurity and human trafficking across the nation.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, highlighted these developments during a statement on Monday, detailing how intelligence-led policing has been pivotal in achieving these outcomes.
In Kogi State, police operatives thwarted a planned attack by a group of armed bandits who were meeting in a forest in Budon. Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle. The confrontation resulted in the elimination of one bandit and the arrest of four others. Weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, magazines, ammunition, and motorcycles, were recovered during the operation.
In a separate incident in Katsina State, police received a distress call about armed bandits heading to attack Ruwan Doruwa Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area. A joint team of police operatives and security agencies intercepted the bandits, leading to a gun battle that neutralized seven attackers. The remaining bandits fled, abandoning 109 rustled livestock, which were subsequently recovered.
In addition to combatting armed criminal activities, the police intensified efforts against human trafficking and the illegal operation of baby factories. These efforts led to the rescue of over 207 children who had been abducted by traffickers. A notable breakthrough came in Ondo State, where police operatives dismantled a child trafficking syndicate and rescued 14 children aged between one week and seven years. Key members of the syndicate, including Abosede Olanipekun, Lukman Isiaka, and Sabira Izuorah, were apprehended.
The Force emphasized its resolve to continue taking firm action against criminal activities while ensuring that offenders face justice. ACP Adejobi reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to safeguarding lives, property, and public safety.
