Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, is set to hold its 34th convocation ceremony, with a total of 6,209 graduands across various degree and diploma programs. Among the 6,209, 115 students will be graduating with first-class honors.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, shared these details during a press briefing ahead of the event, which includes various activities such as a Health Walk for staff and students, an Agriculture and Engineering Show, and a Special Jumat Service. Additionally, a Convocation Service will be held at the Chapel of Abundant Life on January 26, while a Convocation Play and Novelty Match will take place on January 27 and 28, respectively.
The university will confer Bachelor Degrees on graduates from various faculties between January 29 and 30. The grand finale, on January 31, will feature the conferment of postgraduate degrees, awards, and the honorary Doctor of Science degree to Dr. Adekunle Olubola Hassan, a globally recognized Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Chief Medical Director of Eye Foundation Hospital Group.
In total, the ceremony will recognize:
- 115 First Class graduates
- 1,848 Second Class Upper Division graduates
- 3,092 Second Class Lower Division graduates
- 707 Third Class graduates
- 33 graduates with Pass degrees
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arch. Sonny Echono, will deliver the convocation lecture titled, “TETFund and Educational Development in Nigeria: The History, the Treasures and Future.”
The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, will commission several projects on campus and serve as the Special Guest of Honour. The ceremony is expected to attract distinguished academics, government officials, and notable figures from various sectors.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the addition of 20 new academic programs at the university and thanked the Ogun State government for its continued support.
