Pan Atlantic University (PAU) achieved a historic milestone during its 11th Matriculation Ceremony, welcoming a record-breaking 714 new students at its main campus in Ibeju-Lekki. This year’s ceremony marked the highest number of matriculants in the university’s history, with 400 male and 314 female students officially joining the PAU community.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Enase Okonedo, addressed the gathering, expressing her excitement about the new cohort. “Congratulations to the Class of 2024/2025! Welcome to Pan-Atlantic University, where your dreams take flight and your potential knows no bounds,” she remarked, emphasizing the vibrant energy the new students bring to the university.
The ceremony saw the attendance of key university figures, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dr. Peter Bamkole and Registrar Mr. Kingsley Ukaoha, alongside deans and academic leaders from various schools. Professor Okonedo took the opportunity to highlight PAU’s commitment to providing a supportive and enriching academic environment through community engagement programs, such as the PAU Seed (Special Education Empowerment Drive). She noted that this initiative not only empowers local secondary school students but also directly supports four of the new matriculants.
In her speech, Professor Okonedo further emphasized PAU’s integration of experiential learning into its teaching methods. “At PAU, 40% of our teaching involves hands-on activities and role-play, making education a transformative experience,” she shared. She also highlighted the values of Community, Respect, Integrity, Service, and Professionalism that PAU aims to instill in its students as they grow into adulthood.
Parents were acknowledged for their vital role in the students’ journey, with Professor Okonedo expressing gratitude for their trust. “Your children’s journey here will go beyond simply earning a degree. It is about making a meaningful impact in society,” she concluded.
