Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has raised concerns about the worsening state of global morality, emphasizing the urgency for Christians to remain steadfast in their faith. His remarks came during a sermon titled “My Father’s House” at the RCCG’s monthly thanksgiving service held at the Throne of Grace in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Incident of Arrest Abroad
Pastor Adeboye shared a shocking incident involving an RCCG pastor abroad who was arrested for addressing a gathering as “ladies and gentlemen.” The pastor’s words were deemed discriminatory, with attendees questioning why those who identify differently were excluded.
“This is a wake-up call. One of my pastors abroad was arrested, and his offence was simply addressing a gathering as ‘ladies and gentlemen.’ Some people reported him for discrimination, asking, ‘What about those who are neither ladies nor gentlemen?’” Pastor Adeboye recounted.
Bizarre Encounter with a Dog Owner
Another anecdote involved a woman who referred to her dog as her husband. Pastor Adeboye explained that when asked about her spouse, she described the dog, adding that she had taken him to the vet before attending the event.
“These are signs of the times. We are closer to the end than ever before,” he warned.
A Call to Holiness and Commitment
Pastor Adeboye urged Christians to take their faith seriously and resist the growing moral decadence. He reminded the congregation of the importance of holiness and staying vigilant in anticipation of Christ’s return.
“Those already in Christ, take this matter seriously. Do not let anyone weaken your stand. God is holy. Those still playing church—singing, clapping, and enjoying things without genuine commitment—remember, Jesus is coming back,” he emphasized.
He warned that the devil seeks to lead people astray but encouraged believers to remain firm in their faith.
“I want to see you in my Father’s house,” he said, underscoring the eternal consequences of moral laxity.
Reflecting on the Past
Pastor Adeboye lamented the erosion of values, contrasting today’s world with earlier generations that lived by God’s commandments and upheld moral integrity.
“In the olden days, people feared God, lived morally upright lives, and followed His commandments. Let us strive to return to that path,” he urged.
A Wake-Up Call for Christians
In his closing remarks, Pastor Adeboye reiterated the importance of vigilance and unwavering faith. “The end is nearer than you think. Things are getting worse, and this is a wake-up call,” he concluded, urging Christians to stay true to God’s word and be prepared for Christ’s imminent return.
