Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, and his wife, Cristina Serra, have decided to end their relationship after three decades together. The couple, who met in 1994 and married in 2014, have mutually agreed to part ways in an amicable and friendly manner, as reported by El Periodico on Monday. Their separation has been described as cordial and stable, with no major conflicts.
Over the years, Guardiola’s demanding managerial roles across different countries have reportedly contributed to the couple’s growing distance, especially in the past five years. They share three children: Maria, 24, Marius, 22, and Valentina, 17. While Guardiola has remained based in Manchester, Serra, a Brazilian journalist, has been living in Barcelona with their youngest daughter.
The decision to divorce was made in December, with only close friends and family initially aware of the situation. Those close to the couple have been asked to respect their privacy regarding the details of the split.
Serra, who had relocated to Manchester in 2019, left the city to pursue a career in fashion with her family’s company, Serra Claret. Despite the personal changes, Guardiola’s professional life continues as he remains focused on managing Manchester City. In November, he signed a two-year contract extension with the Premier League champions, securing his position until 2027.
As City heads into their next match against Brentford, Guardiola will undoubtedly look to concentrate on his team’s performance, with City currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table.
