The Russian Defense Ministry announced significant Ukrainian casualties in the border areas of the Kursk region over the past 24 hours, reporting that its forces had eliminated more than 290 Ukrainian personnel and destroyed multiple pieces of military equipment.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the ministry detailed the losses, which included one tank, an armored personnel carrier, and four armored combat vehicles. Additionally, four vehicles and three artillery pieces were reportedly destroyed in the operation.
“During the day, the losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to over 290 servicepeople, and a tank, an armored personnel carrier, and four armored combat vehicles,” the ministry stated.
Russia also provided an updated estimate of total Ukrainian losses in the Kursk direction since the conflict began. According to the ministry, these losses amount to approximately 50,120 personnel, 294 tanks, and 217 infantry fighting vehicles.
The claimed losses come amidst ongoing hostilities in the border areas, which have become a flashpoint in the broader conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides frequently issue statements about casualties and military gains, though independent verification remains challenging due to the dynamic nature of the war and restricted access to frontline areas.
