Speed Darlington Arrested Again by Nigerian Police in Owerri

Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been arrested by the police in Owerri, Imo State. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday morning.

“Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a. AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria,” Adeyanju wrote.

The exact reasons for the musician’s arrest remain unknown at this time. The arrest reportedly took place during or shortly after his performance at a show in Owerri.

Previous Run-In with the Law

Speed Darlington’s latest arrest follows a similar incident on October 4, when he was detained by the Nigerian police over allegations of cyberstalking fellow artist Burna Boy. He spent five days in custody before being granted bail on October 9.

Fan Reactions and Legal Developments

Fans of the outspoken artist have expressed concern and confusion over the arrest, with many awaiting further details. Speed Darlington, known for his eccentric persona and social media presence, has often courted controversy, which some believe might be linked to his legal troubles.

His legal team is expected to issue a formal statement as more information becomes available. Meanwhile, Adeyanju’s updates suggest that efforts are underway to secure his release once again.
