Strengthening Ties: Kogi Governor Congratulates Edo Governor-Elect, Emphasizes Collaboration

ABUJA: In a gesture of goodwill and unity, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has officially congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo on his recent election as the Governor of Edo State. This momentous announcement, made on Monday in Abuja through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, underscores the Kogi governor’s commitment to fostering a cooperative relationship with the incoming All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in Edo.

Senator Okpebholo’s victory was confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, where he triumphed with a total of 291,667 votes. He emerged victorious over his closest competitor, Mr. Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 247,274 votes in what was a highly competitive and closely watched election.

In his statement, Governor Ododo lauded the resilience, dedication, and strategic leadership exhibited by Senator Okpebholo and the APC leadership throughout the campaign process. He emphasized that their collective efforts not only led to the party’s return to power in Edo State but also reflected the unwavering support of the electorate. “The successful outcome of this election is a testament to the determination of the APC and the people of Edo State who rallied behind a vision for progress and development,” Ododo remarked.

Governor Ododo further praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections, commending the citizens of Edo State for their commitment to democracy. “The electorate matched their words with action, demonstrating a strong desire for change and progress by electing the APC candidate,” he stated. His appreciation extended to the INEC and law enforcement agencies, who he credited with maintaining a high standard of professionalism during the electoral process, ensuring that law and order prevailed throughout the election.

Reiterating the shared values of the APC and the newly elected governor, Ododo expressed a strong commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Edo State’s citizens. He highlighted the importance of inclusivity in governance, stating that the new administration would work diligently to carry every segment of the state along in its development agenda, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda articulated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Together, we will create pathways for sustainable development that benefit all citizens,” he affirmed, signaling a collaborative approach to governance that values participation and engagement from diverse groups within the state.

In a forward-looking vision, Governor Ododo emphasized the need for a robust partnership between Kogi and Edo States, recognizing their geographical proximity and shared cultural, social, and economic ties. He noted that strengthening these relationships would not only enhance collaboration between the two states but also foster a sense of unity within the APC as they work toward common goals.

As part of his closing remarks, Governor Ododo prayed for divine guidance for Senator Okpebholo as he embarks on his new role. “I am confident that under your leadership, Edo State will enter a new chapter of development marked by progress and prosperity,” he stated, reflecting his hope for a successful tenure.

The congratulatory message from Governor Ododo not only underscores the spirit of collaboration among APC states but also serves as a reminder of the potential for collective progress when leaders prioritize the needs and aspirations of their constituents. As the Kogi governor extends his hand in partnership, the citizens of both states can look forward to a promising future rooted in cooperation and shared values.
