On January 4, 2025, a terrorist attack on an army base in Sabon Gida, Damboa, Borno, led to the tragic loss of six soldiers. President Bola Tinubu expressed his sorrow and extended condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, emphasizing that their sacrifice in defense of the nation would never be forgotten.
In a statement released by his spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu called for a thorough investigation into the attack to determine the circumstances and prevent future occurrences. He commended the armed forces for their quick and decisive response, particularly the air component, which launched retaliatory air raids that neutralized numerous terrorists and destroyed their assets as they attempted to flee.
President Tinubu highlighted the military’s readiness to confront threats, stating that their actions demonstrated the country’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and banditry. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to ensure peace and security for all Nigerians and reiterated his strong support for the military in its ongoing efforts to eliminate these threats.
