Tinubu Reschedules FEC Meeting to Honor Fallen Army Chief General Lagbaja

In a show of respect for the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, President Bola Tinubu has postponed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting initially planned for Wednesday. The rescheduling was announced by Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, who confirmed that a new date would be announced soon.

Lt. General Lagbaja passed away on Tuesday night, November 5, 2024. Serving as Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff since June 19, 2023, he was highly regarded for his dedication to the nation. His sudden passing has deeply affected the military and the country at large. In his memory, President Tinubu ordered that flags be flown at half-staff across Nigeria for seven days, symbolizing a national period of mourning and respect.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Tinubu expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of General Lagbaja and to the Nigerian Armed Forces. He acknowledged the late general’s service and contributions to the nation’s security, praying for his soul to rest in peace.

This gesture by President Tinubu highlights the country’s deep respect for its military leaders and the sacrifices they make.
