UNILAG Celebrates 16,343 Graduates at 55th Convocation Ceremony

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is set to celebrate the graduation of 16,343 students during its 55th convocation ceremony, according to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola. Addressing the press on Wednesday, she shared details of the event, highlighting the achievements of the graduating class and notable honorees.

Out of the graduating students, an impressive 561 will receive first-class degrees, 3,910 fall into the second-class upper category, and 3,723 are in the second-class lower category, showcasing the university’s academic excellence.

The ceremony will also feature the conferment of honorary doctorates on three distinguished individuals:

  • Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO),
  • Mr. Fola Adeola, co-founder of Guarantee Trust Bank,
  • Mr. Kola Adesina, Managing Director of Sahara Power Group.

Additionally, two renowned scholars, Prof. Babajide Alo and Prof. Olukayode Hammond, will receive the prestigious Emeritus Professor award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to academia and the university community.

The convocation ceremonies promise to celebrate academic achievements while honoring individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted society.
