Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is set to attend the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he will join world leaders, top business executives, and representatives of development partners to discuss the global economy and explore ways to improve its conditions. This event brings together influential figures to address pressing economic challenges, and Shettima’s presence will highlight Nigeria’s role in global economic discourse.
During his time in Davos, the Vice President is expected to engage in multiple bilateral meetings with fellow leaders and participate in a variety of workshops and forums. One of the key workshops on his agenda is titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets.” This session, organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in partnership with the World Economic Forum, aims to enhance capital flow into Africa’s frontier markets and promote solutions for a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient continent.
A major focus of Shettima’s visit will be the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, which is expected to foster vital partnerships between public and private sector leaders committed to mobilizing investments in Africa’s frontier markets.
Additionally, the Vice President will attend an exclusive dinner for heads of state, government officials, international organizations, and the 2025 Crystal Awardees, as well as members of the International Business Council and Strategic Partners. This event will take place at the Kurpark Village in Eiger.
In another significant engagement, Shettima will co-chair a forum titled “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” focusing on the role of the private sector in advancing the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Trade Protocol, which was adopted by African Union heads of state and government in January 2024. This discussion will take place at the Pischa Congress Centre.
Further, Shettima will participate as a panelist in a Stakeholder Dialogue on “Global Risks 2025,” discussing the volatile global landscape marked by geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges. This session will be held at the Aspen 2 Congress Centre in Davos.
The Vice President will be accompanied by key government officials, including Jumoke Oduwole, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Aisha Remi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC). Shettima is expected to return to Abuja following his engagements in Davos.
